Reply with quote | #1 | I actually bought this last month but haven't had a chance to play it. Well, last night I was able to bust it out with my youngest boy. So far, I'm pretty amazed at how fun it is! It's a word I don't use very often, but this game is sheer, gaming bliss! I've never played a racing game that has hooked me, but Excitebots made me feel like I was actually a pro from the first race and not because it's easy but because it's so easy to play!
Starting off, everything is unlocked but it's not done in an obnoxious way. All it takes to unlock the meat and potatoes of the game is to get through the first cup. Upon getting a grade of B or better, you have immediate access to Versus, Minigame, and Wi Fi mode.
The races themselves are hectic but not to the point of being chaotic. The controls are silky smooth(at least they were for me), and it's so easy to jump in and throw darts at a giant dartboard, or bowl, or grab a powerup and fly through the sky gracefully like a bird, swooping over the other racers. To me, it comes off as a racer-platformer where there are the sort of surprises that you would normally associate with the latter.
I haven't tried the Wi-Fi yet, but I would be up for a race or five with anybody willing.
Overall Grade: A

Reply with quote | #3 | Actually, yes!
I've plowed through all of the courses single-player and it's now my go-to multiplayer game(well, this and Uncharted 2).
