In the next few days I will post a set of reviews for the SNES versions.

Great reviews as always Critic, but why did the MK3 games score so high ? I thought for sure they were at most C+ material. |

Reply with quote | #4 | A couple things about the Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 review:
1. When you talk about "disenfranchised fans", was that supposed to be "disenchanted?"
2. Did you notice any glitches with that Genesis version? Because I used to have it and I noticed a ton of them, particularly in regards to fatalities not being programmed into the game (you can perform them, but nothing happens, a flaw that strangely effected a lot of the later Mortal Kombats on Sega systems, including Mortal Kombat Trilogy for Saturn).
3. As far as where Sheeva went, I found it strange, because she was actually included in the arcade version of UMK3 (as well as the Saturn, Xbox Live Arcade and the MK: Armageddon Collector's Edition ports), but not in either the Genesis or Super NES versions. |

Reply with quote | #5 | I find it interesting how you tore UMK3 apart throughout the whole review, yet ended up giving it a pretty good score.
So what did you like about the game? You kinda failed to mention that |

Reply with quote | #6 | I find the comment that MK3 harmed the franchise to be extremely hard to swallow.
I should say in UMK3's defense two key characters and several features were cut due to memory limitations...to make up for it they included characters on the select screen that normally would had been secret characters.

Hmm. Maybe they couldn't fit her in due to memory constraints? |

According to Wikipedia Jade, Kitana and Reptile were also added to Ultimate MK3. Though they are still largely palette swaps of course. |

Reply with quote | #9 | I made some tweaks to the Ultimate review. I changed the word disenfranchised to disenchanted, which makes more sense. Also, I mentioned that the underlying gameplay was solid, to balance out the negative remarks a little bit. |

Reply with quote | #10 | Just wanted to point out that JAX is not in the first MK game. He appears on MK2. Please make the change on your MK 1 review. Thank you. |

Reply with quote | #11 | I noticed on your SNES page, the Mortal Kombat reviews were taken down. Is that what you do when you re-review the games? |

Yes, I didn't like the old ones, so I'm replacing those. |

Reply with quote | #13 | You guys gotta remember that the SNES/Genesis versions of UMK3 came out when PS1 and Saturn were hitting their strides. Sheeva, certain backgrounds, finishers, music, etc.......you gotta realize that stuff was missing because UMK3 was squeezing those poor underpowered systems for everything they were worth. I think the game clocked in at 48 "megs" or something. It's like ripping the Atari 2600 versions of Double Dragon, Commando, Rampage, etc..you have to take it into the context of the limited horsepower. I actually appreciate the Genesis version of UMK3 because of what I just explained above. And the graphics and sound ARE a step-up from Genesis MK3 I think MK3 is a "jump the shark" game because the fatalities are very cartoony, silly, and poorly rendered. It drives me nuts how you can rip a torso off and the victim's severed hands magically float along their waistline. How about all the times you somehow blow someone up, and there's 3 skulls, 4 ribcages, and 6 leg bones left behind?? |

Reply with quote | #15 | One thing the 16-bit consoles had over the PSX version was that Shang Tsung could assume all his forms without hesitation. |
